This stuff is the BOMB. I’m not exaggerating. Do your tastebuds a favor and make this NOW.
This crema like spicy sour cream condiment / dip is a staple in my house – ever since I found it I’ve been devouring it on all things mexican coming out of my kitchen. Yes, I’ve even been witnessed dipping corn chips into it and eating it thata way. Don’t judge. Make some and you’ll see ! (Betcha lick the spoon…)
How to make Chipotle Crema
This dip couldn’t be easier. Well, suppose it could – but I’ll tell you about that in a minute. There are only 5 ingredients. Lime, Garlic, Salt, Sour Cream and Chipotle Chile in Adobo. Get yourself what you need and meet me back here ! Pronto ! (Ha)
Hopefully you’ve seen my Kitchen Tip post on Zipping Chipotle Chilis in Adobo – ONCE – and if you haven’t it can be found here. Sure is easier to zip up the whole can one time than to make a mess on your chopping board each time you need some Chipotle!
Chipotle Crema
Ingredients
- 16 oz Light Sour Cream (1 Daisy Light Containter)
- 2 Tbl Lime Juice or more – to your taste
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1-2 Tbl Chipotle in Adobo Sauce
- 1-2 Garlic Cloves Minced
Instructions
- Mince the Garlic
- Juice the Lime
- Here's the hard part… I mix everything in the new / already full sour cream container. It takes a smidge of patience and technique… Add everything to the sour cream container carefully. (Use only 1 Tbl of the Chipotle to begin, and see how you like that, adding in 1/2 Tbl more till you get the crema to your liking). My technique is to pull up the sour cream from the bottom using a spoon. That will allow the newly added mixture to fall into the container – and then I begin to fold and then stir. The ingredients do fit (if using the Daisy Sour Cream). Trust me 😉Alternately – you can dump the sour cream and the other components and stir up in a large bowl and then put it all back into the container it came in or a new container – whatever makes you happy.
- Serve aside Mexican Crock Pot Chicken tacos , Carne Asada tacos, Burritos or serve as a dip with some chips and salsa and guac.
