Why Crinkling Parchment is a Thing

Along the way I pickup tidbits from reading, watching my favorite cooking shows or just from messing around and being in the kitchen. Here’s one I wish I’d known long ago – and it’s so dang simple.

When you pull your parchment off the roll – especially towards the end of the roll – it doesn’t stay put. It rolls up and you have to strategically place your items onto the parchment in order for the parchment to sorta lay in the pan the way you want it to.

The resolution is so simple. Wad up the parchment into a ball, like you are going to throw it away.

Then, unravel the parchment – and smooth out and go on your way.

The parchment will lie mostly flat and you’ll not need to do any acrobatics to keep it flat.

Some people have asked about the folds and the crinkles – does it matter ? General use it won’t matter one little bit. Even if you are baking a cake – this is the only instance where I can envision the crinkles being transferred to your food. If this is the case – either flip over the cake or frost the cake – there’s always a solution!
